Role Description
- This is a part-time, remote role for an Experienced After Effects + GeoLayers 3 Editor focused on producing historical battle map videos. Create animated maps with GeoLayers 3 to show empire/country movements and advances.
- For battle scenes (the main part of the video): Build a custom base map in After Effects with proper textures (grass, dirt, forest, etc.), roads, rivers, and light relief.
- Animate troops, arrows, military units, and leader banners/flags on the map.
- Perfect synchronization with voice-over and epic music.
- Deliver clean, professional, visually engaging videos with cinematic feel.The editor will design and animate detailed map sequences using Adobe After Effects and GeoLayers 3, including troop movements, territorial changes, and key strategic events.
- The editor will be responsible for maintaining a consistent visual style, meeting project deadlines, and delivering high-quality exports suitable for online learning platforms and social channels.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects, with demonstrated experience in complex motion graphics and compositing.
- Hands-on experience with GeoLayers 3 or similar map-based tools, including importing map data, creating animated routes, and visualizing geographic information.
- Skill in designing clear, readable map visuals (labels, color schemes, icons, and overlays) tailored for educational content.
- Ability to read and interpret scripts, historical timelines, and basic cartographic references to translate them into accurate visual sequences.
- Experience working with audio (voice-over and sound effects) to sync animations and enhance storytelling.
- Familiarity with video formats, codecs, and export settings for web and e-learning platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in timing, pacing, and visual consistency across multiple videos.
- Effective remote collaboration skills, including clear communication, timely feedback responses, and organized project file management.
- Interest in history, geopolitics, or military strategy, with the ability to respect historical accuracy while optimizing for clarity.
- Portfolio or showreel demonstrating previous work with map animations, educational videos, or complex motion graphics (required).
- Prior experience in edtech, documentary production, or educational YouTube channels is beneficial.
