Assistant Professor – Architecture

Job Summary
Amity University Kolkata invites applications from highly motivated and qualified professionals for the position of Assistant Professor – Architecture. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, academic administration, student mentoring, and industry engagement while contributing to the University's vision of academic excellence and innovation in architectural education.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Teach undergraduate (B.Arch.) and postgraduate Architecture courses as per the Council of Architecture (CoA) curriculum.
- Conduct Architectural Design Studios, lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, assignments, and examination papers.
- Evaluate student performance through continuous assessment and examinations.
- Mentor students in design projects, thesis, internships, and portfolio development.
Research & Scholarly Activities
- Conduct high-quality research leading to publications in Scopus/Web of Science/UGC-CARE indexed journals.
- Apply for externally funded research and consultancy projects.
- Present research papers at national and international conferences.
- Promote interdisciplinary research in sustainable architecture, urban design, heritage conservation, housing, digital architecture, smart cities, and climate-responsive design.
Academic Administration
- Participate in curriculum design, academic planning, and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation.
- Assist in accreditation and quality assurance activities.
- Coordinate admissions, examinations, student activities, and departmental committees.
- Organize conferences, workshops, exhibitions, expert lectures, and faculty development programmes.
Industry & Professional Engagement
- Develop collaborations with architectural firms, government agencies, NGOs, and industry partners.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, consultancy assignments, and industry interactions.
- Encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and community outreach initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) with First Class.
- Master's Degree in Architecture (M.Arch.) or an allied specialization with First Class.
- Ph.D. in Architecture/Urban Design/Planning or a related discipline is preferred.
- Valid registration with the Council of Architecture (CoA) is desirable.
- Candidates should satisfy applicable UGC and Council of Architecture norms.
Experience
- Teaching, research, or professional practice in Architecture.
- Experience in Architectural Design Studio teaching will be preferred.
- Fresh Ph.D. graduates with excellent academic credentials may also apply.
- Consultancy, funded research, professional practice, or industry experience will be an added advantage.
